In Yomi, the Japanese underworld there exist both a hell, infact many hells depending on the karmic path one chosen and a singular heaven like world where the karmic path of good and righetous go. 

 

Some spirits can earn their way into the heaven like world to be reincarnated into the next cycle. Some spirits remain in hell, aspects of yomi over take the spirit and change them. Often darker than one can imagine. The hells are filled with demons, also known as Oni. These Oni vary so much, some are elemental, some become skeletal of what they were, some become beastly. Yomi held spirits already of elementals, lost gods, way ward angels too. There are ghosts, they are called Yūrei. These spirits are corrupted and weighed to Yomi by their karmic chains.

 

When he was exiled, the Kami was bombarded with legions of entities. Conquering the realm fully he exerted his claim when Grasscutter was smithed. In open combat he used the famed sword slaying the demonic overlords of each demonic and spiritual circle. Yomi is in his control, uniting all of Yomi under his rule. 

 

In the realm of peace and sanctuary, the Yomi version of heaven for the soul to rest before being reincarnated rests many righteous and honorable souls. The souls of his twins,daughter and son in his first mortal incarnating. Also there rested his wife, until his demonic lover stolen away her soul.
